This oilcrisis brings me back to slow urbanism. It's a philosophy based on slow developement, but also really on slow traffic. This slowness has the advantage that it's more suited for high density living and working mixed with traffic. This because trams, busses, bikes, pedestrians are not generating much pollution, sound and not taking too much space. The last one is important as car orientated cities have a big percentage of non-spaces only separating traffic streams from on another. Maybe with a new olcrisis or just an awareness we turn again enmasse to the bike. Here a video of a Beijing with bikes again (now cars are more popular, but in the 80s last century it was bike heaven)
